About the Journal

Focus, aim and publication frequency

Energeia is an open-access online journal for general linguistics, language theory and language philosophy, with a particular consideration of Romance linguistics. This journal was first published between 2009 and 2014. It is issued annually (resuming publication from 2021 onwards) and published at the University of Zurich in collaboration with Ștefan cel Mare University of Suceava (since 2024).

Energeia does not subscribe to any specific theoretical approach. However, we strongly encourage colleagues to submit contributions with a focus on one of the three main areas of interest: (1) Linguistics (2) Language Philosophy and  (3) History of Linguistics.

Journal's sections

Energeia generally is composed of three parts: the first presents unpublished, original contributions; the second consists of documentary work of several research projects such as the SNSF-project "Beyond Structuralism" - Letters to Eugenio Coseriu and the history of linguistics in the 20th century or the Research centre Eugenio Coseriu / Eugenio Coseriu Archives at Tübingen University; and the third of reviews.

Submissions and peer review process

Unpublished original contributions can be submitted anytime; please observe the editorial guidelines. Submitted work will be evaluated anonymously within a period of three months by two independent reviewers. The authors will be contacted after the evaluation and shall receive an evaluation report and request for modification if necessary. Contributions accepted for publication are strictly selected on the basis of scientific quality.
